Personal Trainers Announce Support of FTC Weight Loss Plans :- Diet

?

Highlands Ranch, CO (PRWEB) September 11, 2007

The fitness Together Franchise Corporation (FTFC) announced their support of the Federal Trade Commission?s (FTC) policies on weight loss. Since 1983 fitness Together has worked with thousands of people in need, today employing 3,000 personal trainers worldwide responsible for training 30,000 clients weekly. Today their are more theories and philosophies than can possibly be counted. Because of so many advertisers touting unbelievable claims, pushing powders, potions and pills, confusion in the marketplace is virtually inevitable.Causing many people to either give up on their weight loss goals out of confusion, or simply not begin.

Amidst all the confusion FTFC is educating and helping people design a plan to reach their weight and fitness goals, in line with the basic guidelines as set by the FTC. Since 1983 Fitness Together has worked with thousands of people in need, today employing 3,000 personal trainers worldwide responsible for training 30,000 clients weekly.

Fitness Together publishes regular health and fitness updates in newsletter communications with their clients, making the process easier to remain consistent with their plans. The strategies Fitness Together integrates into their training methods are very similar to those that the Federal Trade Commission officially posts on their website: http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/menus/consumer/health.shtm

?Many people who are trying to get into better shape and lose excess body weight apply the all-or-nothing philosophy to fitness, which typically leads to burn out and excessive binging, resulting in injury or even weight gain,? reports Kevin Betts, President of Fitness Together (http://www.fitnesstogether.com), who began his career with Fitness Together as a personal fitness trainer more than 15 years ago. ?We have always taken an approach in designing fitness plans focused on consistently working with our clients 3 to 4 times per week, developing a plan of action including a sound nutrition plan. The Fitness Together personal trainer helps most clients stay focused on weight loss goals of about 1-2 pounds of unhealthy body weight per week. We have a dual focus as we also provide a plan for a moderate increase in lean body mass to help the body more efficiently burn body fat.?

The FTC reports, ?For safe and healthy weight loss, try not to exceed a rate of two pounds per week. Sometimes, people with serious health problems associated with obesity may have legitimate reasons for losing weight rapidly. If so, a physician?s supervision is required.?

Much like the Federal Trade Commission, when assessing a client in order to best create a plan of action, Fitness Together places importance on considering possible factors that may have caused the accumulation of excess weight, such as:

what kind of regular activity you are currently getting;
how much and what types of food are being eaten;
what kinds of stresses are in your life now, and how do you re-act to those stresses, i.e., binge eating, excessive drinking, poor nutrition choices; and
your physiologic and genetic make-up.

In addition, Fitness Together reports it is important to remain consistent on medical checkups to monitor the body?s vitals such as blood pressure and blood sugar levels, as well as regular cardiovascular checkups.

?The Fitness Together personal trainers support the stance of the FTC. Advertisers suggesting that fat tissue can be removed without a decrease in calories or without burning more calories through exercise is misleading, and might even be considered fraud in some cases. The product in question could also become harmful to one?s health,? says Betts. ?Our certified trainers undergo a strict training program to teach male and female clients a timely and effective method for safe weight loss. These programs are centered around a sound nutrition plan, cardiovascular training and a well-thought-out resistance program.?

When starting a fitness plan, it is suggested that you consult with a health and medical professional who follows the FTC basic guidelines. If you can do your own fitness assessments, Fitness Together suggests several measuring tools, including the skin fold test, a sit-and-reach test, circumference measurements, and a step test.
