Vice President, Marketing and Partnership Activation - Detroit Lions (Detroit, MI)


Description:
Ford Field Management, LLC is Detroit?s premier sports and entertainment destination and is the game day home of the Detroit Lions. Throughout the year, Ford Field hosts events such as concerts, motorsports, college sports, high school and college graduations, and more. Ford Field also has space available for conferences, meetings, and banquets. Ford Field has hosted major events such as Super Bowl XL and the 2009 NCAA Men?s Basketball Final Four.

Ford Field Management and the Detroit Lions currently have a need for a Vice President of Marketing and Partnership Activation. This position is based out of the Ford Field stadium located in Downtown Detroit and may work at the Detroit Lions Training Facility in Allen Park as well. This position requires travel in support of Marketing and Partnership Activation efforts and includes a full benefits package as well as wonderful perks. This position will report to the Sr. Vice President of Marketing and Partnerships.


Summary:
The Vice President of Marketing and Partnership Activation will have oversight of branding, advertising, promotions, game day entertainment, research, and customer relationship management tools. The VP oversees Partnership Activation staff to ensure smooth fulfillment of all partnership agreements and maintain ?best in industry? level of customer service to all partners. This VP?manages, creates and implements marketing partner-related programming and promotions, integrating unique opportunities for co-branding and partnership involvement with the franchise?s overall marketing goals to increase partner satisfaction and, subsequently, renewals.

This department leader will support ticket sales, sponsorship sales, digital media, community relations, and broadcasting. Success will be measured by the accomplishment of performance metrics specific to the team and the departments they support. Special events include stadium entertainment, pre and post-game activities, sales and marketing events, including events at Lions facilities and Ford Field. Administrative duties include strategic planning, budgeting, media and agency negotiations, staffing and employee development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Marketing
? Develops and manages the organizations? brand strategy, including the implementation of brand marketing campaigns
? Develops and delivers strategic sales support campaigns and collateral material
? Oversees all elements of game presentation
? Works closely with the organizations? publishing initiatives, including the game program
? Works closely with the organizations? e-marketing, digital media and research functions
? Works closely with Corporate Partnerships to ensure the family brand integrity is maintained throughout all elements of partner agreements and activation
? Negotiates contracts and business arrangements as required

Activation
? Oversees planning and implementation of all approved activation programs and promotions, while communicating effectively with all areas of the organization to integrate efforts
? Responsible for conduct and generating creative new ideas through activation meetings with creative team to develop ideas to sell marketing partnerships, generate new partnerships and increase partner spending
? Effectively monitors existing partner agreements to ensure timely and accurate fulfillment of all contracted elements
? Maintains relationships with Game Operations on a daily basis to ensure marketing partnerships delivery and over-delivery of partner programming
? Develops full understanding of the marketing and sales objectives of marketing partners to create up-selling and cross-selling opportunities, directly increasing revenue for any and all areas of the franchise (marketing partnerships, tickets, etc.)
? Serves as primary service contact for major marketing partners, ensuring personal level of attention to key decision-makers and increasing opportunities for renewals and up-selling
? Supervisor to Partnership Activation staff, including all supervisory responsibilities of schedule management, support, hiring, conflict resolution, performance assessments, etc.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
? This is a direct supervisory role, but broadly responsible for all commercial initiatives of the Brand
? This position will carry out supervisory responsibilities including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; and addressing and resolving issues

Education and Experience:
? Bachelor?s degree in marketing, business or related field required
? A minimum of seven years? experience in agency marketing, client-based marketing, or related field
? Knowledge of the professional sports industry is helpful, but not required
? Experience in business development and promotions preferred
? Experience in brand management, advertising, design, media buying/planning and consumer research
? Working knowledge of digital media, including web, mobile communications, and e-marketing
? Working knowledge of the retail and licensing industries
? Working knowledge of the broadcast industry
? Experience in event presentation
? Significant experience in preparing and executing strategic plans and business plans
? Demonstrated project management experience
? Strong budgeting and financial management abilities
? Experience supervising a minimum of five staff
? Experience managing multiple functions/departments simultaneously
? Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office
? Experience with or ability to learn CRM software
?
